The EDBA Junior Winter Open tournament will not proceed this year. No suitable substitute gym space is available after the gym booking for the tournament was cancelled by the school. The gym booking for the EDBA Junior Open for April 2012 is still intact and that tournament will still proceed. |
The EDBA focuses substantial resources and effort towards junior badminton development in Edmonton. For the 2011/12 badminton season, we are expecting 7 community based EDBA junior clubs to be in operation. This includes the Bonnie Doon Junior Badminton Club which starts operating for the first time this season. Together these 7 junior clubs will offer even more playing time for junior players than in past seasons. In addition, the Royal Glenora and the Derrick Club are private clubs which have dedicated junior badminton programs. Please see news and events for the latest information on junior programs and services.
The EDBA is also committed to continuing its Junior Training Program which has received tremendous support and positive feedback from parents and players. Details regarding new junior training offerings will be posted here. If you are not already on the EDBA Junior Training e-mail list, you may want to consider e-mailing info@edba.ab.ca to have your e-mail added to the list. You will then be notified when EDBA offers junior training opportunities.
The following table shows the playing time and location for the 7 EDBA junior clubs. Information for the Edmonton Chinese Junior Club and the IBC Junior Club will be posted when playing time and location are confirmed. Some junior clubs provide playing tips and some coaching to junior players. Please contact the respective club representatives if you are interested in joining one of the junior clubs.
